On Saturday 30th January 2016 Keighley Astronomical Society provided the lead activity at the Guide interest day held at the University Academy Keighley. Rocket making and launching was the activity provided over the day in three sessions. In total 35 girl guides constructed a paper rocket and tested them in flight. They also constructed a second rocket with a different design and compared the results, to work towards the best design. Medals and prizes were given to the girls who designed and built the most successful rocket. The astronomy societies participation in this event was funded by a grant from the ‘Craven Trust.
