On Monday 22nd December society secretary Dominic Curran and his wife Angela attended the Aviva Studies in Manchester. It was an early Christmas present for Dominic as they were to see the amazing presentation of ‘The Moonwalkers’.
The story of NASA’s mission in the 1960’s to place a man on the lunar surface was displayed in a large enclosed environment where the images were displayed on all four walls and the floor. An awe-inspiring immersive experience for all ages.
‘The Moonwalkers’ uses Lightroom’s powerful projection and surround audio technology to transform Aviva Studios into a vehicle for an out-of-this-world voyage to our closest celestial neighbour.
Oscar winning Hollywood Actor Tom Hanks narrates an epic experience that offers a new perspective on humankind’s past and future voyages to the moon.
The Moonwalkers’ was created by Hanks and BAFTA-nominated writer-director Christopher Riley, and tells the stories of the Apollo missions of the 1960s and ‘70s, reflecting their gripping journeys at spectacular scale.
Also looking ahead to the next chapter in lunar exploration, newly filmed interviews between Hanks and astronauts of the current Artemis programme grant an insight into the return of crewed surface missions to the moon.
The voice of Tom Hanks with a spectacular original score from Anne Nikitin, made extraordinary show that brings the epic story of humankind’s journeys to the Moon vividly to life.
